Back to Reality

Oh how I love San Francisco! I just got back from my third trip there-all within the last year-and had a fabulous time. Twice a year, Jeff has a trade show there where I help him sell his key chains (yeah right ;-). I actually go for the pure relaxing and shopping fun of it. While I do stop in at the show now and then, I have to say that I'm not that much help. (Except of course to those people who are desperately looking for a Route 66 spinner and then I'm a selling genius-but that's another story. )

So this is how our weekend went....

Friday we flew into SF and into a huge downpour. Because I was packing for everybody, I had the slight oversight to bring an umbrella-oops. We didn't rent a car and just hopped on the BART, which took us right to the Westfield Shopping Center. (This is a very, very high end shopping mall-the kind that uses real silverware and porcelain plates in their food court. This is where I spent most of my time-the mall, not the food court.) We spent the whole day running in the rain and being soaked to the bone. I think I like snow better than rain...am I crazy? We had to set up Jeff's booth, so that pretty much took up Friday.

At these trade shows you are not suppose to buy anything. Its all for buyers to come in a purchase in bulk and write up orders, so they don't like you to purchase things there. But to compensate for the people that do want to buy stuff at really discounted prices, they have the "cash and carry" section. This is my favorite part. Saturday morning I was up with Jeff and first in line at cash and carry. I was on errands from my family and friends to find some great deals on jewelry and fake designer purses, so I had to get there early. The last few times, all the great bags were gone by noon. So this year I was the over excited tall girl with six bags on her arms-a real sight.

Since Jeff was in the show all day, I found ways to stay entertained. Who knew shopping could give you such an adrenalin rush? I am definitely not a shopper, but boy, in that city I sure could be.

I had such a great time, but I really missed my boys. I called on Monday to talk to them and let them know I was coming home in "one sleep" and poor Max just cried and cried. It made me cry. He said he was having fun, he just missed his mommy. He could barely talk to me-it was so sad. Maybe I'll have to sit the next SF show out. Maybe.

Sounds like a good time! How great to get a way together. I want to do that someday, but for now I will live through you!

Hi,
We were om S.F. this time last year and it rained THE ENTIRE time! But it was fun. Great city, except that I could not BELIEVE how many homeless people were on the streets around our hotel. Which was a very nice hotel in a nice shopping district. It was kind of depressing having so many people in obvious need, and feeling helpless. Boy, that "cash and carry" thing sounds right up my ally. Let us know if you are ever in Chicago. P.S. there is good shopping here too!
