Update

So we got released from the hospital today, and thank goodness!  Boston had saved up all his energy from 2 days and it was ALL coming out.  The nursing staff was happy to see us go I'm sure.

Anyway, after wondering what was wrong with him for two days, we finally got the official results this afternoon.  He tested negative for all flu viruses, and the only thing he tested positive for was rhino virus, which is basically a cold.   So all in all he ended up being in the hospital for cold that induced asthma.  Thank goodness it was nothing more.

Fireworks and King Cobras or How I spent my summer vacation

We were so excited for this weekend and the annual Taylor Family Campout in our backyard.  It all started out so great with dinner and cake for a birthday, a movie, and playing with cousins.  But halfway into the movie the lightning and thunder came and wind all came moving the party all indoors.

As we moved inside, Boston started complaining about not feeling good.  His eye hurt and his nose was running.  We put him to bed with some Benadryl hoping that would fix the problem.  He woke up at 5 am crying with a fever and cough.  So on the fourth of July we spent the whole day sitting on the couch while kids ran around.  We were suppose to go to a pool and splash all day, but Boston was not looking good.

Around 6 PM I finally convinced myself to take him in, and on the fourth of july, only the ER is open.  Thank goodness uncle Joel was there to help and watch over us.  He wasn't B's doctor, but he stayed with us and answered all our questions.

It turns out that Boston has some type of virus.  We don't know what kind yet.  The rapid Swine Flu test came back negative, so hopefully it stays that way, but he was still very sick.  He doesn't have pneumonia either, all the x-rays looked good.  So they just think its some strain of flu.

When we brought him in, his oxygen level was 79% and he was working really hard to get air.  Joel said that they admit people who are below 89%, so that was a little scary.  He just looked grey and blue-not good.

Anyway, we ended up being admitted and staying over night.  His levels have been hovering around 92 with oxygen, so they are keeping him another night until he can be without oxygen and be around 96 at least.

He's really sad that we missed fireworks, but I think he's kind of enjoyed his 'sleepover' at the hospital.  The toughest part was getting the IV, but he was SO brave.  He didn't move or even really cry that much.   I asked him later what it felt like and after he thought about it for a minute he said, "kind of like a King Cobra bite".

okay...I don't know what that feels like, but he sure was tough.

Here are just some pictures of his first stay in the hospital...

Getting a breathing treatment.  B get's to smoke his peace pipe every four hours and it makes him a bit hyper and talkative...kind of funny.

Getting a nice shower.

And we had this BEAUTIFUL view from our window.  It was so nice today, I wish we could have been somewhere else.

Here's Boston after his shower, showing off his IV.  We can't bend the arm though. It HAS to be straight and he can't use it...says Boston.

Attempt at Breakfast.  A little shy after throwing up a few times.

The nurses are great and brought him a ceramic dragon to paint.

Max finally got to come visit and saw all the fun things Boston got to do and asked if he could come and stay here when he gets sick.

I hope not.

Hopefully tomorrow we will be home. We have to get this summer vacation rolling soon since school just ended Thursday and starts again in two weeks.  boo.

AUGUST

August is full of so many great things...Jeff's birthday, Grandpa's birthday, Swiss Days, school starts (for traditional schools anyway),  hot late summer days,  bow hunts, and soon, baby #3's birthday.

As of today, I am 20 weeks along and doing great!  We found out that we will be adding another
BOY!
to our family and we are so excited!  I was an only girl with three brothers and now I have three boys-I can definitely do boys!

So this is our way of introducing you to (at least we are 75% sure this will be his name)...
AUGUST MICHAEL PAINTER
aka AUGY
aka GUS
(At least one of my children needs a month name like his Mommy!)

(FYI-That is not his lip in the picture...its the umbilical cord going across his face.  The doctor tried to get around it, but it kind of made it look like a weird lip :))

We are so very excited and the boys just can't wait for him to join our family.

Family Night at the Temple

We visited the Draper Temple Open House tonight and had a great experience as a family.  It was beautiful and I'm so glad my boys got to walk through it.  They were both awesome and very reverent.

The Celestial Room was Max's favorite room.  Before we got in there the line had slowed down and it was moving really slow.  As we moved up on the door to the Celestial Room, Max saw that amazing chandelier and said "WOOOOoowww!  That is sooo beautiful!"  Then a minute later he asked, "Why does Jesus get all the pretty things?"

This was Boston's favorite part.  The Baptismal Font was a little different that other ones I've seen.  As you come into a chapel, there is a glass wall that looks straight into the font room.  It was kind of interesting.

When we got home tonight, Boston said he wishes he could have gotten his swimsuit on and gotten in.

Another cool part was the Sealing Rooms.  They let you sit in there for as long as you would like and it was neat to show the boys the mirrors.   If you look into the mirrors you can see Forever and Ever!

I hope they will remember this for a long time and that it can be something that will help build their little testimonies.

Saturday Snow Fun

For Valentines Day we got the Family together and made snow forts for a snowball fight at grandma's house.  Little did I know of the architectural prowess of a certain uncle.  It was like he was an Eskimo or something.  We built Max and Maleah an igloo and Boston and Payton built their own snow fortress.

Max and Maleah took time out to play in the snow.

Boston and Payton worked really hard on their fort and even had a great idea to spray paint it.
And as any parent should know, something is always going on when things get quiet.....

They ended up tagging Grandpa's wall.  We stopped them before Boston got the rest of his name on.  Everyone thought grandpa was going to freak out, but he handled it really well and it ended up being a great teaching experience for the boys.  So hopefully this keeps them out of juvenile hall later in life.

More pictures of the day...

The Finished IGLOO!  By this time though, everyone was too cold for a snowball fight and we went inside for hot chocolate and movies.

CLEAN YOUR ROOM!!!

Everyday we clean it. Every morning it looks like this.

This is my boys staying in their room until its clean.  Aren't they hard workers?

Max IS FIVE!!!!

My Baby is now 5 years old!  I can't even believe it!  What a sweet boy he is and we are so glad he is a part of our family.

We had a great day that started at preschool with a poster all about him and ice cream cone cupcakes.

We decided not to have friend parties this year and I guess I didn't explain it well because at preschool I heard Max tell the kids "I'm not having a friend party, and I don't know why?"  I laughed, and told them all about the fun we were going to have instead.  I don't think I've scarred him for life, I hope.

Max wrote on his poster that he wanted to be Jengo Fett when he grows up.  His favorite color is blue.  His favorite food is turkey sandwiches and apples and bananas.  He has lots of friends.   His pet is Dixon.

After Preschool we met up with Grandma Deb and went to lunch at Carl's Jr. and then made a trip to Toys r us  where they made a big deal about him being 5.

The best was his party at Classic Skating.  He got lots of good things and they ran and ran.

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Dancing with the Stars-or just the Taylors

For Christmas this year my Mom and Dad gave us a dinner and dancing date with all the adults.  I will admit that I was excited for the dinner part, but a little worried about the dancing part.  I have NO RHYTHM and Jeff is a good dancer, so I was worried that we would end up fighting about who was leading who and who was on who's feet.   I  have to say, though, I was pleasantly surprised when we got there and got going.  The lady spent the first half hour teaching the swing.  It was great fun and it was pretty crowded too!  There were probably 40 couples there at least.

So we learned the swing and then tried to copy people doing the waltz.  It was crazy fun and Jeff and I laughed and laughed and just had a great time.

Matt and Teresa cuttin' a rug.

My Mom and Dad showing us all how its done.  I was quite impressed with how good they are-practicing pays off!

Joel and McCall doing what they do best...

As you can see-WE had a really good time!  :)
Nice shot right?

My Little Ski Bumbs

I had no idea that kids under 6 ski free, so why hadn't I done this earlier?  One of our neighbors use to teach ski lessons and invited a bunch of neighbor kids up to learn to ski.  Both boys were super excited to get going.

Max tried really hard and did a good job-but how can you have a good first skiing experience when your pants are too tight?  Yup, his parents are cheap-I've learned my lesson.

Boston was ready to go from the start.  He told me he knew how to do it and didn't need help.  I asked him how he was going to stop and of course he told me that you just fall down.  Well, right!  I guess thats usually how I do it too.

Here are the kids learning the difference between "pizza" and "french fries".  As soon as this was over, Boston popped up and said-"Got it-lets go"  and off he went.

Max was a little competitive and wanted to head up on the lift to do the real hill.  He refused to do the little hill we were practicing on.  So we were done.  Jeff's going to have to work on this one.

Boston doing the "Pizza" and the Roboto dance.

Bean's first lift ride.  So exciting!!!  Thanks to Sam for watching over Boston and taking him up the big hill.

I couldn't believe it!  He came zooming down the hill doing great!   (That's him to the left of the orange flag)  He was coming so fast I just kept yelling "Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!"  He was great though and finished top of his class.  We're so proud!

Basketball Boston

Boston is in his first year of Jr. Jazz and LOVING IT!  Which is such a relief for us because I signed him up without asking him and he was not happy about it.

Since he's started, he's been to Jazz games and to the BYU/ Utah Game and thought it was 'awesome'!  He told his coach at his last game that he wishes he could play this everyday!

This is one of Boston's baskets he made and the celebration afterwards.  It doesn't matter who scores on his team, he does this same double fist pump in the air for everyone.

We are so proud of Boston and its been a blast to watch him grow and begin to love the game!

Christmas Morning

This has been the BEST Christmas EVER!  We kept it very simple and it was just wonderful.  Even the kids thought it was the best!  Our kids were awesome and didn't wake up until 7:30, so that was nice.  They were so excited when they saw the tree!   I also LOVED that it was snowing!  Its the perfect setting for opening presents on Christmas Morning!

The sad part was that I left my camera at my parents house so we didn't have anything but our cell phones, so all these pictures are done with a 1 megapixel camera.  Great, I know.

Its funny how excited you can get over new underwear!

Here's a picture of Boston's loot.  R2D2 was the big treat this year and its a pretty cool little robot.  He also got Optimus Prime with the trailer and Legos Mars Mission.

Max got the same R2D2 and Indiana Jones Legos and the Batman WII game.

Jeff and I also got spoiled by Santa-it was just a great day!

Christmas Eve PARTY!

It all started with a rousing game of Christmas Bingo, and when there are prizes involved you have to make sure the rules are VERY clear....right Matt?

Speaking of games and rules, the adults went back in time and played an old family favorite of "Escravos de Job".  (My Grandpa went on his mission to Brazil and this was a game he taught us.)  The idea is to pass blocks to the song without messing it up for everyone and I'm sorry to say this, but the in-laws just weren't that good at it.  Maybe next year guys!  So it came down to Matt, Joel, Andrew and me.  I haven't been in something that competitive since college!  Matt was the first gone after a valiant try, then Andrew was out (he thought he should get a second chance since everybody else had a spouse playing- we overruled him).   Then it was just me and Joel.  Just guess who won....Thats right, JOEL.   I totally lost my concentration when his MASSIVE, MONSTER hands kept bumping mine.    It was like playing against someone with a superhuman ability!  I had no chance, but I gracefully accepted defeat and he won the $25 dollar gift card to Target.  Bummer.

Next Joel and Andrew had prepared a musical number, Karaoke to "Last Christmas, I gave you my heart, the very next day you gave it away...."  by Wham.  This is a picture series of how it went.  They chickened out when more family came by so we only saw it once.

Nobody finds it funny though.

I'm just kidding, It was very entertaining.
Next it was the kids turn to sing their favorite christmas songs.

Then here's Andrew being a "Stage Mom".  Watch out future Andrew kids!

its just snow fun

Probably not the safest thing, but ITS SO FUN!  Our good friend and Boston's Best Friend's Dad came over and took the boys around on tubes.  They did it for hours and then the next morning Boston was up early, dressed and waiting to go again.  Thanks Ryan!
